Wreck

After the news

The rain shuffles like a child

walking around
my room.

There is no inside
or outside. The air?

Same air. They beat
the windows.

They beat them.
I dreamed idly:

unmarked buses,
dulled spoons.

It was not
the nightmare

I waited for.
Who sits outside

even now.
In the rain,

the burgeoning hail.
Falling

like a child.
